A
client-oriented health service
Sensitive to the needs of patients
in which doctors and other health professionals will listen to and
discuss fully with their patients who provide feedback concerning
their level of satisfaction with the service offered in order to
guide improvements in care. Health professionals will willingly
participate in continuing education and re-accreditation would be
mandatory.
Healthy environment
Potable water must be universally
available. There must be proper treatment and disposal of human
and solid waste. We must protect the environment and coastal waters
including Kingston Harbour. High standards of personal hygiene and
food hygiene must be the norm.
There is a need for numerous parks,
green open areas, nature reserves, playing and sporting areas, walking
and riding tracks. We must plant more trees and pay attention to
landscaping aesthetics and gardens. Cities should have significant
areas free of vehicles in which one walks or takes a trolley on
rails.
Good health
at low cost
Health outcomes must continue to
improve significantly without the excessive expenditure which arises
from fragmented health services in which interest groups profit
from peoples illnesses. We anticipate more years of a healthy, productive
life, reduced infant mortality, reduced maternal mortality, the
elimination or control of communicable diseases, increased life
expectancy, fewer complications from chronic diseases, fewer injuries
from trauma, fewer disabilities and an enhanced quality of life.
Caring communities
Social services need to support communities
and families in an integrated way to better care for the elderly,
the disabled, the mentally impaired and persons with special needs.
