THE
COUNCIL PROFESSIONS SUPPLEMENTARY TO MEDICINE
The Council is an executive body by statute falling under the purview
of the Ministry of Health. It was first appointed in 1970 in accordance
with the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act, 1965, and Regulations
thereto with specific responsibility to -
(a)
regulate the training of students in the specified professions;
(b) register members of the specified professions;
(c) ensure the maintenance of proper standards of conduct of the
specified professions registered under the Act.
The
professions listed under the specified professions are: -
Medical
Laboratory Technologists, Radiographers, Physiotherapists,
Occupational Therapists, Medical Dietitians/Nutritionists, Speech
Therapists,
Public Health Inspectors, Nutrition Assistants, Dietetic Assistants,
Audiologists.
