Violence Prevention Alliance -Jamaica CHAPTER

The Violence Prevention Alliance – Jamaica Chapter was launched in 2004, in response to the Global Campaign on violence prevention catalysed by the World Health Organization.

Under the umbrella of The Ministry of Health, the Violence Prevention Alliance shares a public health approach that targets the root causes of violence, and recognizes the need for improved services to mitigate the harmful effects of violence.

It is a network of government, non-governmental and community-based organizations, private, international and inter-governmental agencies working together to prevent violence. It facilitates the establishment of shared vision, mutually supportive strategies across agencies, while providing a unified voice to influence local, national and international policy changes. The VPA is guided by the evidence-based principles and offers opportunities to share data, knowledge, best practises, experiences and technical assistance for violence prevention activities.
