Director of Emergency Disaster Management and Special Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Marion Bullock DuCasse says persons should continue to take the necessary precautions to secure their health and wellbeing as the country continues to experience cases of Influenza A(H1N1). “Persons particularly in the high risk group need to ensure that they seek medical attention immediately as they begin to feel symptoms. We have to continue to stress this because if this is followed we can initiate treatment early, which will likely result in a more favourable outcome for the patient,” Dr. Bullock DuCasse explained. The country has recorded its seventh death as a result of Influenza A(H1N1) infection. The patient who was confirmed with the virus was within the high risk group and developed complications. This group includes pregnant women, persons with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, asthma, heart disease or any condition that impairs the immune system and children under five years old.
