| Ministry of Health urges pregnant women to seek immediate medical treatment for even mild flu-like symptoms |

Other persons in the high risk group for complications from Influenza A(H1N1) including individuals with chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease and children under five years old are also advised to seek medical attention immediately if they have flu-like symptoms.
The Ministry of Health is reporting that there is an additional five confirmed cases of Influenza A(H1N1) in the island bringing the total to sixty nine (69). The cases were detected in the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew (2), St. Mary (1), St. Catherine (1) and St. Thomas (1). Dr. Bullock DuCasse says all persons have already recovered.
Persons are being urged to continue to take the recommended precautions including washing hands frequently with soap and water or using an alcohol based hand sanitizer and covering nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing.

Director of Emergency Disaster Management and Special Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Marion Bullock DuCasse is urging pregnant women to ensure that they seek medical treatment immediately if they have any flu-like symptoms however mild. “Pregnant women are among those in the high risk group for complications from Influenza A(H1N1) and so we want them to see their healthcare provider early so that treatment can be initiated at that stage,” she explained.
