MOH&E HEAD OFFICE REOPENS TOMORROW
February 18, 2008 (MOH&E):
The Ministry of Health and Environment’s Head Office, located at 2-4 King Street in Kingston, will reopen for business tomorrow (February 19) following its temporary closure today (February 18).
The Oceana Building, which houses the head office of the Ministry of Health and Environment, as well as the office of the Pan American Health Organization, was order closed after its emergency generator caught fire on February 16.
The emergency generator, an electrical cable tray which feeds power to the upper floors of the building and the generator house were completely burnt resulting in the lost of power in the building. The Urban Maintenance Limited (UML), the maintenance arm of the Urban Development Corporation, has estimated damages at over $5million.
While the cause of the fire remains unknown, temporary power has been restored to the building. The damaged equipment were insured. |
