JAMAICA/CUBA EYE CARE PROJECT – PART II

Senator Aundre Franklin, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Environment, has described as a success this morning’s meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica Her Excellency Gisela Garcia. The meeting was called to determine the way forward for the Jamaica/Cuba Eye Care Project.
Senator Franklin in responding to the offer of continued support said that the Ministry looks forward to maintaining the partnership with Cuba as a way of strengthening the country’s ophthalmologic expertise.
Senator Franklin expressed great confidence in the technical expertise of Jamaican trained ophthalmologists whom he said will be able to operate an efficient ophthalmology centre in Jamaica with further training and exposure.
Flights to Cuba will resume on February 19 with one hundred (100) patients scheduled to visit Cuba every 21 days.
