Bio-Statistician (SOG/ST 6) [Vacant]

 JOB PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Director, Monitoring & Evaluation, the incumbent is responsible for conducting bio-statistical analyses of epidemiological data collected from field surveys conducted island-wide.

 

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Research studies commissioned and research activities coordinated.
  • Research data analysed, guides prepared, scientific papers produced and disseminated.
  • Data for the planning and evaluation of monitoring and evaluation activities prepared and disseminated to relevant stakeholders.
  • In-service training programmes for staff in the use of research methodology designed and conducted.
  • Surveys to evaluate health services, programmes and clinical practices designed and conducted.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Provides technical advice concerning monitoring and evaluation information systems and conducts the statistical analysis of data.
  • Provides advice concerning research methodology and statistical analysis of data sets
  • Conducts training in bio-statistics, data analysis and research methodology
  • Collaborates with the national and international agencies involved in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Evaluates the quality of data sets and advises on how the data may be improved.
  • Designs and reviews instruments used for the collection of data for monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Performs any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Masters Degree in Bio Statistics, Epidemiology or Biochemistry
  • Five (5) years experience in Bio Medical or Statistical Analysis
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
