Officers must coordinate with their Regional Health Authority and the Medical Council of Jamaica to complete registration and administrative requirements before starting the Internship. - What is a Selection Certificate?
A Selection Certificate (job offer letter) confirms placement and is sent to both the Medical Council of Jamaica and the respective RHA. This is essential for obtaining your medical license. - Can I make changes to my placement site after receiving confirmation?
Transfers are rarely granted due to limited posts, but may be considered within the first month of the program. - How do I get an Internship post at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI)?
Submit your form to UHWI’s Human Resources Department.
Students are encouraged to also apply for MOHW placements as a backup. If you are granted a Post at both a GOJ hospital and UHWI, then then you simply have to pick one. However, if the application to UHWI is declined and you had not submitted an Application to the MOHW then there is little that can be done to be accommodated in a MOHW hospital for the upcoming cycle.
