Senior Facility Operator (SOG/St 5)

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the day-to day operation and maintenance of the assigned medical waste treatment facility in an efficient manner and in compliance with the Facility’s standard operation procedures, maintenance plan, and health and safety plans.

 

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Daily treatment targets met.
  • Standard operating procedures, maintenance plan & schedule developed
  • Waste manifest forms completed
  • All routine, preventative and corrective maintenance activities completed in a timely manner and according to schedules
  • Records developed and maintained
  • Reports prepared and submitted in time
  • Facility cleaned and maintained
  • Inventory of consumable, spare parts, collection bin and personal protective equipment maintained
  • External stakeholders facilitated
  • Bacteriological monitoring test completed
  • Safety and emergency response procedures completed
  • Budget information prepared

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Technical Professional Responsibilities

  • Ensure that daily treatment target for waste quantities received at the facility are achieved
  • Operate and monitor the operation of the treatment equipment and other equipment at the facility in accordance to the standard operating procedures and equipment manuals
  • Read, understand and use equipment manuals and schematic drawing to develop a comprehensive maintenance plan and standard operation procedures for all the equipment at the Unit’s treatment facilities.
  • Perform routine, preventation and corrective maintenance service of all equipment at the Unit’s medical waste treatment facilities in accordance with established maintenance.
  • Carry out inspection of building and equipments at treatment facilities after disasters to ascertain if structural integrity is maintained
  • Liaise with Ministry of Health, Regional Health Authorities and other Government Departments as required

 

SPECIAL CONDITION ASSOCIATED WITH JOB

  • The working environment at the treatment facility involves the mechanical handling of hospital infections waste
  • Work is a noisy and boi-hazardous waste environment
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment
  • Requires working training to prevent potential worker exposures to boi – hazardous waste
  • Requires proper immunization
  • Requires to work beyond normal working hours from time to time to effect solution to maintenance related problem or to meet deadline

Working knowledge of building and equipment maintenance  
Ability to grasp knowledge of the dynamic operations and maintenance requirement for equipment used at waste treatment facilities  
Ability to interpret specification of machinery and circuitry

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field
  • At least two years working experience with a reputable company in the capacity related to equipment and building maintenance
