JOB PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Foundation, the Finance and Accounts
Manager is responsible for providing sound financial advice, expertise and effective financial management in the administration of accounting operations; processing day-to-day financial transactions, payroll, managing charitable funds; preparing monthly reports and financial statements of the Foundation. The incumbent is also required to manage and mitigate risks and ensures accounting best practices, policies, procedures and other regulations are compliant with GOJ’s legislation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Management/Administrative Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development of the Foundation’s strategic business and operational plans;
- Develops policies and procedures to guide the operations of the Finance and Accounts Department;
- Provides technical advice to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other relevant
stakeholders on the financial management and position of the Foundation; - Represents the Foundation at meetings, conferences and other functions as planned or directed;
Technical Responsibilities
- Prepares the annual budget in alignment with the Operational Plan of the Foundation;
- Process monthly payroll for staff and ensures that all statutory deductions are submitted to the
relevant organizations; - Prepares and submits annual statutory returns to relevant stakeholders;
- Prepares monthly cash flow;
- Prepares monthly financial statements;
- Prepares monthly expenditure reports;
- Manages accounts payables;
- Manages donor funds and reconciles distribution to different entities;
- Manages the fixed assets register and creates new assets;
- Manages the Foundation’s bank account and prepares monthly account reconciliation;
- Manages CUG contract and ensures the payment of invoices;
- Applies risk management strategies to financial operations to mitigate risks;
- Liaises with external entities regarding the interpretation of policies, procedures and regulations
- regarding accounting and financial matters;
- Coordinates Audit Schedules, provides accurate and reliable information to external auditors;
implements recommendations and follow-up actions indicated by the auditors; - Develops and Implements systems and procedures to oversee accounting operations and internal
- control mechanisms;
- Assess financial operations and suggest best-practiced recommendations to management;
- Prepares other periodic Monthly/Quarterly/Annual reports;
- Files documents in accordance with records management best practices;

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Management Studies or Economics or equivalent qualifications and at least five (5) years relevant experience.
OR - Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or any equivalent recognized professional qualification in accounting or management plus at least five (5) years post-qualification experience
OR - Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Management Studies or any equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized tertiary institution plus at least five (5) years post-qualification experience.
