PPDD MISSION

PPDD enables evidence-based decision-making and access to quality health care by providing the Central MOHW Divisions, Regional Health Authorities, Agencies, Councils and other key stakeholders with relevant information, strategy and policy articulation and execution support.

 

BRANCHES

The Policy Planning & Development Division performs its function through several branches:

 

PLANNING, PERFORMANCE & PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The role of the Branch is to provide guidance and overall leadership of the integrated strategic planning, performance management and health sector development planning processes. Strategies should be developed with goals reflecting the Ministry and national policy outcomes. This includes ensuring adherence and compliance with applicable statutes and guidelines by the Ministry and its portfolio agencies and monitoring and evaluating the MDAs performance against the expected standards and requirements. The Branch also provides leadership in the development of project designs and project proposals and the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework to effectively assess the strategic initiatives and programmes/ projects implemented.

 

RESEARCH & POLICY DEVELOPMENT

The Branch is responsible for coordinating, researching, advising and providing technical support to the Ministry of Health and Wellness; with a view to researching and developing/strengthening policies and programmes that are aligned with the Ministry’s strategic direction. This Branch also facilitates the development and submission of Cabinet Submissions, Cabinet Notes and Ministry Papers. The Branch further undertakes a monitoring and evaluation function with emphasis on critical programmes and projects of the Ministry.

 

ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT

The Risk Management Branch of the PPDD is accountable for the effective and efficient planning and execution of the Ministry’s Enterprise Risk Management System. This includes the identification, quantification, recommended tolerances, evaluation and treatment of key risks, while ensuring compliance to statutory and internal requirements in support of the Planning and Health Policy branches in support of the MOHW’s Mission, Vision and Major Targets.

 

INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR HEALTH

The Information Systems for Health Branch is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of digital health/Informatics/ICT policies, programmes and projects across the Jamaican Health system through the application of best-practice policies and programme governance, change management, reporting, assurance and benefits realisation.
