JOB PURPOSE

Under the general direction of the Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, the incumbent is responsible for designing, analysing and interpreting the epidemiological data collected from field surveys conducted island wide.

            

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Key Outputs

  • Advice on data collection, collations and analysis techniques provided to key stakeholders  
  • Statistical research and analysis conducted 
  • Database of statistical data developed and maintained 
  • Efficient data collecting techniques implemented
  • Health status performance data collected and reports generated 

Technical Responsibilities

  • Advises the Director on priorities for data gathering and analysis 
  • Conducts statistical research and analysis in support of the work of the Unit
  • Advises the Director, where statistical analysis can help support overall health status monitoring
  • Develops and maintains a database of statistical data relevant to the Units work
  • Develops (and redevelops as required) a classification and coding system for statistical data by maintaining knowledge of local and international standard classification systems

 

Technical Competencies

  • Sound Knowledge of the bio-statistical techniques and quantitative analysis including multivariate analysis
  • Sound knowledge of computer programmes for statistical analysis

             In-depth knowledge of research methodology

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics or related field
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Bio Medical or Statistical Analysis or conducting quantitative studies/research.
  • Training in Epidemiology/Research 

 

OR

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics or related field
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Bio Medical or Statistical Analysis or conducting quantitative studies/research.
  • Training in Epidemiology/Research
