JOB PURPOSE
Under the direction and leadership of the Chief Biomedical Engineer, the Biomedical Engineer (Monitoring & Evaluation) is responsible for designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and activities that strategically supports the Biomedical initiatives for the entire healthcare system. Additionally, the role undertakes research and analysis to inform the development of policy and programme initiatives, and to support the development and application of economic assessment tools to measure the return to the GOJ from major biomedical investments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Researches and designs monitoring and evaluation frameworks for assessing all components of the biomedical engineering function;
- Monitors the implementation of the biomedical engineering policies, processes and procedures;
- Develops econometric, cost-benefit and/or financial models to ensure that investment and policy decisions concerning biomedical engineering initiatives are based on strong and rigorous evidence base;
- Develops and implements monitoring and evaluation tools, systems and other activities in order to collect and analyse data;
- Collates and analyses data, developing and maintaining key metric dashboards to continuously improve the initiatives and demonstrate the impact of biomedical engineering function to healthcare in Jamaica;
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Health Technology or equivalent discipline;
- Certification/Training in Monitoring & Evaluation Techniques in Health Technology;
- Three (3) years experience in Biomedical Engineering, Engineering or a related area.
