‘Comply, register and partner with us’ – Health Minister

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Wednesday, June 4, 2025: Private medical facilities across the island are being urged to comply with registration requirements in keeping with the Nursing Homes Registration Act. The call comes as the Ministry of Health and Wellness moves to update the standards of operationality for private facilities in keeping with patient safety and care.

“We understand that some facilities continue to operate outside of the regulated framework. To those unregistered facilities, I extend an urgent invitation: get onboard this shared vision by complying with the registration protocols. We continue to pay keen attention to this matter and stand ready to support those entities that are ready to comply,” said Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton.

The Minister was speaking at the official launch of JACDEN Pharma and Medical Services on Wednesday (June 4). JACDEN Medical Services is a multi-specialty healthcare provider offering care through an integrated model of outpatient services.

The Nursing Homes Registration Act mandates the registration of private medical facilities.

“By completing registration, each facility becomes part of a transparent, transformative healthcare system where accountability and quality are paramount. This transformation will enable us to incorporate providers into a robust network that supports modern best practices and sustainable health outcomes,” the Minister continued.

Currently, the Ministry is developing the criteria to distinguish the types of facilities and basic services to be offered.
