Health Centers Opened following the Passage of Hurricane Matthew

Health Centers across the island, with the exception of the Flankers Health Center, have been reopened following the passage of hurricane Matthew. Health centers were closed on Monday October 3, 2016 as a safety precaution due the passage of Hurricane Matthew. The Flankers Health center in Montego Bay was closed today due to gun violence, which forced operations to be halted.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has also scaled down its National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) activities based on the discontinuation of the tropical storm warning for Jamaica. The MOH NEOC will discontinue its 24 hour operation. Reports will now be received twice daily from the four (4) Regional Health Authorities, thirteen (13) Parish Health Departments and twenty four (24) hospitals.

To date there have been no reports of deaths or injuries related to the passage of Hurricane Matthew. As of 10:00a.m. today the Meteorological Service discontinued the tropical storm warning for Jamaica. As such, the island is no longer at threat of tropical storm-force winds as Hurricane Matthew continues to move away and weather conditions improve.
