The Ministry of Health and Wellness yesterday marked the start of the new financial year 2022/2023 with its Thanksgiving Service held at the Boulevard Baptist Church in St. Andrew.
Speaking at the service, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton noted that the faith community is among the partnerships that have played an instrumental role in the COVID-19 response. The Health Minister further added that the Church’s support to the public health system remains important and will also be critical to the nation’s post-COVID recovery efforts.
“The ‘fruits’ of these partnerships will benefit the nation, not only in the immediate future but will also contribute to post-pandemic service delivery, “Dr. Tufton noted.
At the same time, the Ministry, in coming months, is set to partner with the Church as it seeks to further engage Jamaicans in developing healthy lifestyles. Of significance is the Ministry’s plans to boost mental health services as the country looks toward recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Thanksgiving Service was attended by the Ministry’s directorate and members of staff. State Minister of Health and Wellness, Juliet Cuthbert-Flynn presented the scriptural reading, while Permanent Secretary Dunstan E. Bryan expressed appreciation with a vote of thanks.
