Health Ministry to introduce additional vaccines to general population

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Thursday, August 19, 2021: As Jamaica experiences its third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Wellness is moving to increase immunization against the virus with the introduction of additional vaccines to the general population.

Following the vaccination of children from Saturday, August 21 to Tuesday, August 24, the Ministry of Health and Wellness will offer the Pfizer vaccine at vaccination sites starting Wednesday, August 25. In addition, some 118,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are also set to be received in country for vaccination activities. The Ministry will also continue administering the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Persons wishing to be inoculated may access the vaccines at fixed sites in parishes, mobile sites across communities and blitz operations.     

Members of the public are encouraged to make their vaccination appointments online, view vaccination sites and obtain detailed information on vaccines at vaccination.moh.gov.jm.
