Lab Services Continue Despite Employee Absenteeism

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Monday, January 8, 2024:  The Ministry of Health & Wellness is taking proactive steps to ensure that there is minimal interruption in the services provided by the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and the National Blood Transfusion Services (Blood Bank).

This comes as it has been brought to the attention of the Ministry that some categories of workers employed to the national laboratory services and the blood bank have been absent from work.

The Ministry is collaborating with private facilities and individuals, public hospitals with laboratory services, and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to carry out the functions in the meantime.

It is to be noted that the Ministry has not been advised of any industrial action by the staff but based on advice of the management is mobilizing resources to carry out emergency services.
