Minister of Health, Hon. Horace Dalley met with the eight families of the babies who died during a bacterial infection outbreak at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the University Hospital of the West Indies. The meeting which lasted close to three hours took place at the UHWI Board Room yesterday afternoon (Thursday, November 12, 2015).
Minister Dalley empathised with the mothers and fathers and told them that he wanted to express his personal feelings of sadness for their loss as the public discussion did not seem to be mindful of the grief that they must be experiencing.
A similar meeting will take place next Thursday with the parents of those babies who died in a similar outbreak at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
