Mr. Errol C. Greene, OD, JP was named Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Wellness effective September 1, 2024.
Mr. Greene assumes this role having previously served in the public health sector as Regional Director of the largest health authority, the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) which oversees health services in Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Thomas and St. Catherine. He is also a former Regional Director for the Western Regional Health Authority, managing public health services delivery in St. James, Hanover, Westmoreland and Trelawny. Additionally, Mr. Greene held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Kingston Public & Victoria Jubilee Hospitals.
Prior to his sojourn in public health, Mr. Greene was the Town Clerk [Chief Executive Officer] of the Kingston & St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) and served at the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation in the role of Secretary Manager/ Chief Executive Officer. He also served as Manager Pro Tem of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA). Mr. Greene has also extended his expertise in the private sector, working with Merrill Lynch & Company in New York, where during his tenure was awarded the President’s Award for Excellence. He also served as Assistant General Manager in charge of Market Operations & Trading at the Jamaica Stock Exchange.
He holds a Master of Business Administration Degree in International Business & Finance (Magna Cum Laude) from Farleign Dickinson University in New Jersey and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Audrey Cohen College in New York. Mr. Greene is a Justice of the Peace, trustee of the Lay Magistrates Association of Jamaica, a recipient of the Governor General’s Achievement Award and in 2021 received the national honour of the Order of Distinction- Officer Class (OD).
