Tufton to Deliver Ninth Sectoral Presentation Today

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Tuesday, June 10, 2025: Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, MP will today deliver his ninth Sectoral Debate presentation in the House of Representatives. The address is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Gordon House.

Under the theme “Staying the Course,” Dr. Tufton will report on the Ministry’s progress over the past year and outline its key priorities going forward. He is also expected to provide an update on the redevelopment of Cornwall Regional Hospital and other major infrastructure projects.

Dr. Tufton has served as Minister of Health and Wellness since 2016 and is the Member of Parliament for St. Catherine West Central. His tenure has included leading Jamaica’s COVID-19 response and launching a wide-scale overhaul of the country’s health infrastructure.

This year’s presentation comes amid heightened national interest in the public health system, particularly around hospital conditions, service delivery, and staffing.

The proceedings will be streamed live on the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ social media platforms, as well as via PBC Jamaica and Nationwide 90FM.

The Sectoral Debate is part of the annual parliamentary process in which Ministers provide an update on their portfolios and share plans for the year ahead.
