Programmer (MIS/IT 3) (Band 5) – vacant

Salary $1,984,305 – 2,668,670per annum.

 

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Programme Analyst, the Programmer is responsible for supporting the development and management/maintenance of all business applications service under the Ministry’s remit.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Technical/Professional

  • Participates in requirements analysis and task scoping;
  • Constructs entity-relationship diagrams that capture data architecture;
  • Performs bootstrap installations for new development environments and retires older environments as requested;
  • Performs regression testing for source changes and documents results;
  • Maintains the software repository utilized by the service desk;
  • Works with the Senior Developer to document user stories, concept diagrams as well as use cases diagrams;
  • Develops and tests custom applications to determine suitability to client needs;
  • Maintains custom applications using code tracking and version control frameworks;
  • Supports the preparation of user manuals and system documentation as directed by the Lead Applications Analyst;
  • Conducts user training and knowledge transfer for newly deployed applications;
  • Troubleshoots and rectifies problems reported by users as escalated by the service desk function.

 

 Technical

  • Knowledge of current development tools and platform;
  • Knowledge of business process analysis;
  • Knowledge of application development principles;
  •  Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, and application development methodologies and paradigms (eg. OOP, functional, procedural, etc);
  • Ability to write clear, well-documented code and friendly user manuals/system documentation.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 year of IT experience;
  • Experience with any combination of HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and .NET frameworks plus MSSQL is preferred;
