(Salary Scale: Min: $4,594,306.00 – Max: $9,172,509.00 per annum

 

JOB PURPOSE

 

Under the leadership and direction of the Chief Health Economist & Data Scientist, the Statistical Analyst will participate in the collection, collation, and retrieval of data on all aspect of the Jamaican health & wellness system in keeping with set standards, procedures and /or directives.

  • Health & Wellness data collected, compiled organised and disseminated;

  • Individual workplan prepared;

 

TECHNICAL/PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops methods to collect and tabulate economic and social data;
  • Designs and manage surveys to deal with initial collection of data;
  • Arranges for the printing, collation and distribution of data collection instruments to each region;
  • Processes and analyses data in context looking for patterns to help make decisions;
  • Participates in the conduct of training Officers within the regions, to collect, verify, validate, clean input and back up data;
  • Monitors the return of data from each region and prepares required status reports;
  • Cleans, verifies and validates the master database;
  • Communicates with Regional Offices and healthcare institutions in respect of detected inconsistencies or errors;
  • Extracts information as required from secondary source;
  • Visits regional offices in order to ensure that application prototypes are properly installed, computer programme errors are minimised during the entry and retrieval of data, statistical standards and procedures are adhered to and schedules are maintained;
  • Analyse and interpret statistical data in order to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information;
  • Prepares and presents data in graphical/tabular form for publications;
  • Provides data on the healthcare system to local and overseas interested individuals and organisation;
  • Provides current and trend statistical data in support of analytical and policy decision making functions of the Section and other relevant areas of the Ministry;
  • Performs all other duties and functions as may be required from time to time.

  • Data collection instrument printed and distributed in a timely manner;
  • Data processed and analysed within given deadlines;
  • The master database is cleaned, verified and validated within the set deadlines;
  • Health and Wellness data is accurately and suitably collected, complied, organized, and

      disseminated within the time required;

  • Current and trend statistical data are reliable and are provided on a timely basis;
  • Reports on activities prepared in keeping with the set deadlines and format.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Social Sciences or equivalent qualifications;
  • Training in statistics and research methods;
  • Training in computer hardware and network maintenance;
  • A minimum of five (3) years’ experience in statistical analysis.
